Why Tin Foil Hat? And Why Now?

I built my ten year career off my deep knowledge and passion for comics, movies, and TV. I'm a self-taught journalist and have been lucky enough to write at sites like Esquire, Polygon, The Hollywood Reporter, IGN, Nerdist, Den of Geek, Buzzfeed and more. Over the last ten years a lot has changed, even my own career.

I'm now best known for hosting my podcast X-Ray Vision, alongside Jason Concepcion, I miss having a regular outlet for writing and the freelance economy isn't what it once was. I used to be able to pay my rent and bills simply by pitching and writing reviews, think pieces, op-eds about art I love. That's no longer the case, so I'm taking back the means of production: my hands and brain.

With your support this will hopefully be a new space for me — and ideally in the future other writers — to share my thoughts, burning takes, most vital weird opinions, and niche explainers about characters no one else cares about.

Easter Eggs and Explainers

A lot of my fans come from my time as one of the premiere easter egg hunters online. While I have been honest about the damage I played a part in doing to the discourse (I'm still sorry about Mephisto guys) I know a lot of folks miss those kinds of pieces, which aren't being put out in the same way anymore by most outlets due to lack of pay and the rise in AI and the fact I don't write them lol.

If this becomes a viable source of income for me, I'll be able to get back into the egg hunting business and really dive deep into episodes for hours to find the funniest, silliest, and maybe just in my insane head stuff.
